Julia Frew

Julia is an all-rounder in the film and comedy world, working across acting, writing, producing and digital content.

Most recently, Julia wrapped principal photography on the romantic comedy feature Written In The Stars, playing the comedic role of Lou Lou. Her acting credits also include Abbie in Netflix/ABC’s critically acclaimed Utopia, and Josie in Messy, her original comedy web series she wrote, produced and directed. She also starred in, wrote and produced How To Bail From A Bad Date, a 2026 finalist for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Julia works full-time as a live Comedy Producer at Melbourne’s Comedy Republic, where she shoots, edits and develops digital content featuring some of Australia’s best comedic talent. She’s an experienced interviewer and online content creator, best known for her Instagram series Julia On The Street, where she regularly interviews and collaborates with notable Australian comedians. Her content has attracted hundreds of thousands of views online.

Alongside her production and performance work, Julia is developing two original comedy series, Messy and Wits End. Julia has also worked in production across a range of film and television projects featured on Netflix, Apple TV, Stan and the BBC. If it wasn’t obvious, she’s passionate about comedy (duh) and telling female led, LGBTQIA+ stories.
